What sets Dock WerX apart from the rest?
All docks serve the same basic purpose — getting you from your boat to the
shoreline. But not all docks are built the same. The difference is in the details. Going above and beyond in materials, design, and craftsmanship makes a noticeable difference in stability, durability, and long-term performance. See what sets our docks apart — and why the details matter.

3-Bolt Pin...
At Dock WerX, we use a three-bolt pinning system on all dock legs to create a stronger, more stable connection. One bolt tensions the leg securely against the dock frame, while the other two lock it firmly against the perpendicular sleeve wall. This design minimizes movement and significantly increases structural rigidity.
For added protection, the outer bolt is concealed behind the wood rub rail, eliminating the risk of contact or damage to boats. In many installations, this reinforced connection reduces or even eliminates the need for additional bracing.
We also use 1/2" grade 8 hardware for superior strength, durability, and long-term performance.

Make it yours!
Upgrade your dock with a custom end plate built just for you. Add your last name, lake name, cabin location, or a design that reflects your style. We offer clean text layouts and simple graphics to give your dock a personalized, finished look that stands out on the shoreline.
Legs that last...
We build our dock legs using 3/16" wall 2" x 2" square tubing — exceeding the common 1/8" wall 1.5" x 1.5" tubing used by many competitors. That means 50% thicker steel and a larger profile for increased strength and rigidity.
Water is a harsh environment for steel docks. Thicker material resists corrosion longer, reduces flex, and delivers a sturdier, longer-lasting dock you can count on season after season.

Extensive Truss Work...
Smart truss design allows us to build a dock that is both lighter and more rigid. We don’t just truss the side rails — the cross members and center supports are reinforced as well. The result is a solid, stable platform with little to no bounce underfoot.

Pick Your Color...
Switch it up. Select from four rich stain colors, and we’ll finish every cedar 2x6 board on all sides with an oil-based stain to stand up to sun, water, and northern Minnesota weather.

Smart Design
Dock legs are fully capped to prevent water intrusion while the dock is in use. The trapped air inside the leg helps resist water entry from the bottom. A drain hole is drilled at the base of each leg, allowing any incidental moisture to escape when the dock is lifted out. This also prevents potential freeze related splitting. The interior of the leg tube is coated as well to help prevent corrosion.
Who Builds These?
Meet the owner/fabricator/installer.... Lanny Freng. A little bit about myself. I grew up just south of the Twin Cities and bought a boat-access lot on Lake Vermilion in 2013. Since this time, we have been building a log cabin one weekend at a time. My wife, Jennifer, and I have raised our three boys and are now empty nesters. Sadly, we are still 612'ers but are looking for the right property near Duluth to become 218'ers in 2026. For the past 20+ years, I have been a home inspector and real estate appraiser, but I have always loved working with steel and fabrication. Seemed like a no-brainer to carry this passion into something that can benefit all lakefront owners who have to contend with difficult rocky shorelines.
